Our Mission Behind Developing Extinct Life NFTs In Conjunction With The WWF

Our mission behind developing Extinct Life NFTs in conjunction with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is to ultimately improve, if not maintain, the populations of endangered species. As the list of endangered species continues to mount, we also want to bring awareness to the devastating degradation of so many organisms that contribute to our world’s ecological diversity.

An endangered species is either an animal or plant that is deemed at risk of extinction. Species become extinct mainly due to two reasons; loss of habitat or loss of genetic variation, both of which has largely been effected by human activity.

A species loss of habitat can occur when humans develop housing, agriculture and industries where the habitats of once native organisms were. For example, the Amazon rain forest in South America continues to be cleared to create cattle ranches and for urban use.

Extinct Life are on a mission to stop the destruction

We reserve 30% of our NFT sales for the World Wide Funds for Nature.

The loss of a species genetic variation has also been a key contributor to species becoming extinct, thanks to overhunting and overfishing reducing the populations of many organisms. This leads to fewer breeding pairs and therefore, inbreeding which limits the genetic variation amongst animals, limiting its maturation and diminishing its population.

In order to preserve and protect animals considered endangered or vulnerable, funding conservation is our best chance of stopping the vast amount of animals becoming extinct. This is why we reserve 30% of our NFT sales for the WWF, the largest and most influential independent conservation organisation in the world. WWF operates in over 100 countries and has more than five million supporters across the globe. We too at Extinct Life are on a mission to stop the destruction of our world’s natural environment and create a future where humans live in harmony with nature.
